XL Converter 0.9 is Here!

The new version of this modern image converter is here!

Dynamic Downscaling

Shrink your images to fit under a desired file size. XL Converter can now dynamically adjust the resolution for you. Head on over to the “Modify” tab.

It’s a huge time saver. Phones usually output gargantuan size pictures that don’t benefit from a larger resolution. XL Converter can help you trim them down.

4 more downscaling methods were also introduced for more fine grained resizing.

JPG Reconstruction

Convert your JPGs to JPEG XL without losing any quality. Select JPEG XL, check lossless and watch the size get smaller.

Format Support

As a reminder. This is not only a JPEG XL converter. It works with AVIF and many other formats as well. AVIF can even outperform JPEG XL in certain situations, so try both.

Smallest Lossless

Previous version introduced this feature. If you need to shrink your images in file size only, not in quality or resolution, then it’s a perfect tool.

Every image is checked with each of the 3 formats (Optimized PNG, WEBP, and JPEG XL) to deliver the tiniest file size without any loss of quality.

Patreon

Get this build on my Patreon and support the development. For general public, it will be available very soon.

Linux Installer

I wrote a simple, but competent installer for Linux users. It can also perform an update.

I’ve been trying to package it as an AppImage, but it’s not as easy as it seems. I may get around to it eventually.

For now, this will do.
